FINDING THE PERFECT PANTS FOR A COLUMN SHAPED BODY TYPE

I have to be honest, a column shape (also referred to as a banana or rectangle body type) can wear pretty much any style of pants (lucky you!), but one of the biggest complaints I hear from column shaped clients is that they want to look curvier and less boyish.  I've spotted a fantastic selection of pants (if you’re British I’m referring to trousers NOT knickers!) in the shops recently that are perfect for creating those curves, so today I'm helping all you lucky slim column girls find pants that make you look curvier!

THE MOST COMMON ISSUES YOU'LL COME ACROSS WHEN TRYING ON PANTS

• You’ll sometimes find they sag a little around the hips
• They may emphasize your boyish figure (which is by no means a bad thing, but if you’re trying to create a curvier shape these aren't going to do it for you)
• They just don’t give you any shape at all.
• Some styles can make you look taller and even thinner.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN CHOOSING THE PERFECT PANTS

Choose pants that will add a little volume and shape you your bottom half.  

Carrot leg and Paperbag pants are fantastic at adding volume to the hips and enhancing a waist.

Pockets and zips are a great choice

Any detailing around the hips will add volume which will create more curves and emphasize your waist.

Masculine tailoring is a great choice.  

Your slim frame will look fantastic in masculine tailoring - the structure will add a little shape and look so chic.

Wear different blocks of colour on the top and bottom.

If you wear all one color it will emphasize your length and lack of curves

Go for flares and boot cut styles.

They are a great way to add a little curve to your figure.

Cropped pants will look great on you.

While the rest of us have to watch the length for cutting us off at an unflattering point, column shaped women can choose pretty much any length and they are a great way to break up your length.

Tapered leg pants are a great choice

They will make your hips look wider, and you more curvy.
