Finding a coat that fits and flatters an hourglass figure can be a little tricky, particularly this season where there’s a plethora of double breasted and high necked styles which have a tendency to fit poorly or be unflattering. But you don’t have to settle for a coat that pulls across the bust or that’s too big for you because you needed to accommodate for your bust. No. There ARE some styles out there for your gorgeous shape, you just need to know what to look for and where to look…and I’m about to share both with you!
WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN CHOOSING THE PERFECT COAT FOR AN HOURGLASS SHAPE
- Opt for coats that have a collar that can be worn open, as a high necked collar will just make you look broader than you are an will be unflattering.
- V-Necklines are perfect, they elongate the neck and break up the line across the bust.
- A deep V-Neckline is also a great option for the same reasons, but make sure you go for the correct size as if the coat is a little small it will gape across the bust.
- A single breasted style will be much more flattering than a double breasted style. Double breasted anything’s tend to make hourglass women look and feel larger than they are. There is an exception to this though - if the double breasted fastening sits below the bust it will be fine (see coat number 3in the first group of coats).
- Coats with structure at the waist are brilliant at highlighting your gorgeous waist and a coat with a belt is even better as you can cinch it in ans show of your waist.
- Look for styles that don’t have added detailing across the bust, such as pockets. These will just add bulk.
