THREE SIMPLE WAYS TO TIE A LONG SCARF

Last week I mentioned that I'd finally been able to restock a couple of my scarf designs in the shop so I thought it would be fun to show you three of my favorite ways to tie them!   I'm featuring my two long scarves this week - Atasi and Sona.  Both of which were inspired by the beautiful hand painted trucks I saw all over India while I was there.  Each design was hand drawn and painted on paper, intricately cut and then layered before being transferred to the computer so they could be digitally printed.

Atasi - Cotton and Modal scarf

My scarves are large, and I mean large - I can't see the point of piddly little scarves that leave you very little fabric to play with.  These, however, are large enough to be worn multiple ways but today I'm going to illustrate just three.

Sona - Cotton and Modal scarf

This first way is super duper simple:

1. Wrap the scarf around your neck, making sure that one side hangs longer than the other.
2. Grab the longest end and wrap it round your neck.
3. Fluff and tweak the fabric around the neck.  That's it!

Atasi - Cotton and Modal scarf

This second way is a variation on the previous style and a great way to prevent the long ends from blowing around in the wind:

 Follow steps 1 - 3 above, then:

1. Loosely tie the two ends together
2. Tuck the knot under the fabric around the neck
3. Pull and fluff so the scarf isn't tied to tightly around the neck.

 

Atasi - Cotton and Modal scarf

This third way to tie a scarf is quite possibly my favorite:

1. Fold the scarf in half to create a square
2. Fold the square in half to form a triangle
3. Hold the triangle in front of you so that the longest edge is along the top
4. Grab the two ends and wrap them round your neck - passing them over each other at the back and bringing them back round to the front
5. Pull one of the ends through the loop and bring it over the top
6.  OPTIONAL do the same with the other end but in reverse - pull the end through the loop and under so that it sits underneath.
