Wearing the correct bra isn’t as simple as wearing the right size, you also need to choose styles that suit your shape. Just as our body shapes vary from one person to another so too do our busts, so it’s important that we choose the right shape bra if we're to achieve the best support and shape possible.
Last week I shared the top 5 signs that you’re not wearing the right size bra and encouraged you to get fitted for the correct size. This week I thought I’d follow on from that with some advice that will help you choose underwear that is not only the right size but that gives you the best fit, support and shape you need in the bust.

This week I thought I’d follow on from that with some advice that will help you choose underwear that is not only the right size but that gives you the best fit, support and shape you need in the bust.
THERE ARE 6 MAIN STYLES OF BRA:
- PLUNGE - These lift and push the breast together.
- BALCONY - These lift and gently push breasts together.
- PUSH-UP -These enhance the bust and create cleavage.
- BALCONETTE - These lift the bust and give added boost and fullness.
- PADDED PLUNGE - These push the breasts together whilst lifting slightly.
- FULL CUP - These offer great support and coverage and can enhance the fullness of the bust.
CHOOSING A BRA SHAPE THAT SUITS YOUR BREAST SHAPE:
Touching or full, round breasts.
Opt for full cup, plunge or balconette styles that will offer support and definition.
Small bust
Opt for push up and balconette styles which are great at lifting. If you feel you need to be pushed in a little, too, then opt for a plunge which will both lift and push.
Long/shallow breasts that are fuller from the nipple down.
Full cup, firm balcony, and push-up styles will all help to create a fuller shape.
Wide set breasts.
Choose styles that lift and push the breasts together slightly, such as balcony, plunge and push up styles.
Ultimately the best way to find out what shape bra will fit you best and give you the best support is to try on a variety of styles, but I hope that these suggestions will point you in the right direction, help narrow your search and ultimately, save you time
